There was a couple who walked in, and I (Zoe) was able to give her a handout, and briefly offer help. She looked at the handout as she walked, but then threw it away at the prompting of the escorts. The man with her came back out shortly after and I was able to talk to him. He apologized, which I didn’t understand until another sidewalk counselor who spoke with him told me he had learned that this man was paying for the abortion. He said he wasn’t the father, but a friend of the family. He seemed to value the life of the child, so I encouraged him to reach out to her and try to convince her out of it. He didn't think he had enough power to speak into her life, but he obviously had some influence, since he had brought her to her appointment! I continued to encourage him to fight for this child. He sat in his truck for a while, and then went back in. He was inside for a bit, and when he came back out he talked with another sidewalk counselor for a long time! We don’t know this guy well enough to tell if he was being truthful, but he told the other sidewalk counselor he spoke with that she had changed her mind, and then she came right out and they left! Unfortunately, none of us were close enough to speak with her. We pray that this is a real and lasting decision, and that she will consider other options such as adoption, since it sounded like her life situation was not good.

In March of 2018, Sarah was on the sidewalk pleading for life. A young woman stopped and talked with her, taking the pro-life handout that Sarah offered her. This young woman, Beth, also took a gospel of John booklet and and a Bible from Sarah. Sarah was able to talk for a while with Beth, but Beth still went in to the Building for Women. Later, Beth called Pro-Life Ministries of Duluth, using the number on the handout, and told them she had changed her mind and didn't have an abortion. She said that when she had come out of the building, that everyone had already left. When she called, the ministry was able to get her address to send her a gift card, to help her financially and celebrate with her that she chose life for her child.
That was 2 1/2 years ago.
Recently, Sarah received a call from Beth. She was in need of some clothing for her kids as they were about to head back to school. Through the great generosity of friends of the ministry, funds were donated to go towards this need. On Wednesday, September 2, Sarah took Beth shopping for her three little boys. She was able to get everything she needed for them, through the kindness of others!
Beth's youngest son, Carson, is the same baby who was saved from abortion 2 1/2 years ago! Here's a current picture of Carson from Wednesday:
Carson,
such a precious child,
given the gift of Life!

Today we praise God because we saw another baby saved!! Tom was able to talk to a mom going in to the Building for Women, right at the edge of the gate. She stopped when he offered her the gospel of Jesus Christ, and took both the gospel of John and one of our pro-life handouts. In Tom’s words, she was very soft, and seemed dazed. It seemed that she didn’t want to be there and was open to what he offered. Still, she went in. After just a little while she came back out and walked past where Zoe was standing on the other side of the gate. Zoe asked her if she had changed her mind, and she said, “Yeah I did.” She still seemed very dazed, and her demeanor was a little confusing, but after getting the full story from Tom, we believed her. She chose life! Thank God!

This morning we saw a baby saved at the abortion center in Duluth, Minnesota, (the Building for Women)! We rejoice over each and every baby who is saved by the grace of God. On this particular morning we had sidewalk counselors positioned in front of the building on each side of the courtyard leading to the entrance, and one or two sidewalk counselors down in the alley by the back entrance. Zoe and Solomon were taking a turn in the alley when a vehicle pulled in and stopped near them. The middle aged man driving rolled down his window and said to them "I convinced her to change her mind! She's going to keep it! I'm picking her up right now. This is going to be my 7th grandbaby. I'm so excited." Zoe and Solomon were joyful but also skeptical since we are lied to quite frequently. The dad of the girl inside parked and waited about 10-15 minutes until she finally came out. Zoe was able to talk to her and ask if she had changed her mind. The girl replied "Yes, I changed my mind." Her body language was that she was shy and overwhelmed. Zoe was able to give her a handout with our information on it, and told her to call if she needs anything, including financial support. She said "Thank you." Her dad in the vehicle was smiling so big, and he pumped his arm up and down as they drove away. We were just in tears and praise God for this miracle!!
Baby Save Report 9/18/15 Duluth Sidewalk Counselor Rebecca Once again God's gracious hand has moved and another 2 precious lives have been spared! Praise the Lord! On Sept. 18, 9 women entered the Building for Women in Duluth, and the spiritual warfare was particularly strong, as for the first day in many months there was an escort for the abortion center. However, God was still in control and the Holy Spirit touched the hearts of 2 of these women and they changed their minds! The first young couple was willing to stop for a few moments and listen to what I was saying. I told them that we could help them with some financial needs, and that their little baby was a treasure. "S" told me bluntly that they already had three children, and they proceeded to walk into the clinic. I told them as they walked away to look at the ultrasound; that they would see another baby with arms and legs. A few minutes later we saw them exit the building though the alley way, and walk across the street to the Women's Care Center. After a little over an hour, we saw the couple again standing across the street on the sidewalk. We went over to talk to them and one of the sidewalk counselors first of all asked if she could give "S" a Bible, and began to share the gospel with her. "S" then said "I guess God does have a plan for my life." We asked why, and the couple looked at each other and stated they were having another baby! They proceeded to tell us that they had mistakenly tried to make an appointment for an abortion at the Life Care Center and when they went into the Building for Women they were informed that they were not in the schedule. They then went to the Life Care Center for an ultrasound, and after seeing the baby's heart beating decided not to have an abortion, but rather keep their little treasure! The second couple was similar; they paused for a few moments to listen to me as they were heading toward the clinic. Both of them seemed troubled in their hearts and the young man seemed like he wanted to talk more, but "A" urged him on to go with her into the clinic. Before heading in, they did take literature from me, however the escort took it from them and threw it away! As always, I urged them to look at her ultrasound. After getting into the vehicle to leave for the day, we saw the couple leaving the clinic. We got out and asked if they had change their mind and "A" gave a little smile and nodded "yes" and stated that they had. We asked if we could help them, however they didn't want any help and didn't want to share any contact information. It was so exciting and encouraging to see the Lord at work once again! Both of these couples will need much continued prayer as they make this step of faith, but we can confidently know that the Lord will bless them for making this decision.
8/14/15 100 and 101 BABY SAVE! It is a time to rejoice as we have seen the hand of God moving in another mother who came out of the abortion clinic in Duluth because she had changed her mind about having an abortion! Praise God for His great faithfulness in answering prayer and doing it exceedingly abundantly above all we could ask or think! On Friday Aug. 14, we had spoken to about 14 women who went in for an abortion that day. We encouraged each one of the women to look at their ultra sound while pleading for the life of the baby. Having been there for over 3 hours we were getting tired and ready to leave, but just at that time we saw “R” walking out of the clinic with a small smile on her face, we asked if she had changed her mind and she said, "I’m having twins!" She told us she had looked at the ultra sound pictures and couldn’t do it after seeing the hearts beating and little foot. (They use poor quality ultra sound machines at the BFW but “R” saw some detail anyway, praise God!) After I asked if she had heard us speaking to her she said, “Yes, but they had told me not to talk to you.” she showed me the small phone pic of the twins. How exciting it was to see those little lives in a place of shelter and safety as God intended! We exchanged contact information and have sent a gift card to “R” with plans to keep in touch for continued help and support. Please keep “R” in your prayers as she faces many challenges and difficulties in relationship with her husband." R" told me she discovered her husband was having children with another women and so she is leaving him, that's why she wanted and abortion. She works to support her other 3 or 4 other children- very busy. She has agreed to have an interview with Jim Tuttle and talk about how she changed her mind to be an encouragement to other women to do the same.
Baby Save Report March 19, ‘15 Duluth SWC Jim Tuttle It was a wet/snowy morning and clients came early. Three escorted had come this morning after a long period of abortion days without escorts. One was very vocal. After nine women had come a second sidewalk counselor came and just as she came across the street to join me a group of three ladies came out of the center. The youngest was smiling. When she came near I asked if she had changed her mind. She nodded in agreement so I engaged her in conversation. The other two ladies kept on walking, (later I learned that they were her mother and sister.) By that time the second SWC had joined me in talking with the youngest lady. She told me her name was 'M' (about 18-years-old). When asked why see changed her mind she said “I just couldn’t go through with it”. She seemed very genuine and happy about this decision not to abort. She told me she lived in Duluth and said she wouldn’t mind if I contacted her after she got current with her phone bill then gave me her number. We offered help if she needed any and I gave her my card.
Baby Save Report 2/13/15 Duluth SWC Jim Tuttle Report and interview by Sarah Winandy
We had 3 sidewalk counselors on Friday where we saw 9 couples go in for an abortion, each heard our words imploring them not to take the life of their innocent baby. It was Rebecca’s first time to sidewalk counsel and she did a great job, it’s really wonderful to have her join us! After the last couple came, and after Jim had spoken to them, we knew it was time for us to leave. Rebecca was riding with me and just after I had pulled away from the clinic she said “Look, isn’t that the last couple that had gone in?”- They were walking away from the clinic on the sidewalk. I went around the block and found a place to pull over and park. I ran over to them and asked if she was pregnant while handing our pamphlet, they answered, “Yes, we changed our minds.” I was trying to hide my overjoyed state of emotion as I encouraged them and prayed for them. They didn’t want our help, but cried when I prayed and took the Bible I offered them, they also took my phone number. It was an exciting moment and for Rebecca it was extremely encouraging since the Lord used her to help us know of this baby save, I would have missed them if it had not been for her! Praise the Lord! Pray for J__ and C__ that they might contact us for follow up.
Baby Save Report 6/19/14 SWC Jim Tuttle Duluth The save was really amazing! Jim was by himself in front of the abortion clinic and made eye contact with every client going in asking them to change their minds. The girl was with her mother and Jim sensed she was going in because her mother wanted it. Leaving the clinic the mother was angry and irate, yet the girl was calm and told us she had changed her mind, she wanted to talk to us but her mother got in the way and yelled at us to leave the girl alone, the girl said, "Mom..." trying to settle her down but did not succeed. They left and the girl gave a little wave with a smile as they left.
Praise God for this save!
Baby Save 12/13/13 Duluth Sarah Winandy SWC An abortion minded women who was just about to enter through the gate of the Building for Women, stopped to talk with us when we offered literature. She told us she is 21 yrs. old and eight weeks pregnant with her tenth child, from Milwaukee Wis. and has no family nor friends in Duluth. She began crying as she expressed her burden concerning the abortion, not really wanting to go through with it, but not knowing what to do. After talking with us she was willing to walk with Jim to the Women's Care Center for continued counseling. We also were able to get her phone number for further contact.
Baby Save Report 10/17/12 Duluth Jim Tuttle, SWC Late in the morning, after all the clients were in the abortion center, a group of three, two young ladies and the young man (all three were approximately the same age) came out of the Building for Women. One in particular was smiling and made eye contact with me. (I recalled this threesome going into the building earlier and spoke to them without response.) But on the way out of the building they were willing to talk and when I asked the lady who had smiled at me, are you going to keep the baby she answered “yes”. We talked briefly with them and learned that the pregnant mom’s name was 'T'. She said that she had a one-year-old at home and just couldn't go through with it. We told her that we were there to help and encouraged her to contact us if she had any needs. She took my card for future reference.
Baby Save Report 5/22/12 Duluth Sarah W. SWC Today we saw two women approaching the Building for Women and offered them literature, the younger women didn't respond but the older woman, (Probably her mother) took it and seemed appreciative. After about thirty minutes later we saw them both leave. I went over to them, but they went walking into the parking garage so I walked along on the sidewalk at their pace and asked if she had changed her mind about having an abortion. The younger girl did not respond but I noticed she was crying, the older women answered and said, "she is alright" and something else but I couldn't hear her, so I said, "Please don't kill your baby", The older women responded and said, "No, she's not going to." We believe this was a baby save, but are not positive.
Baby Save Report November 19, 2011 Duluth Sarah Winandy, SWC On Sat. Nov. 19 we were at the Building For Women to plead for the lives of the unborn children who were condemned to die. Thirteen couples who went into the building heard our cry for mercy on the baby. One couple parked across the street from the building, the women went in as the man filled the meter. I walked across the street and gave the man our pro-life material, he took it and threw it into the car but was not angry with me. The escort, Arial, walked across the street after me but I was already returning to where I came from in front of the building, and was able to say to the man, "Be courageous and save your babies life". A while later the man came out and moved his car, then returned to the building. Some time later after all the mothers were in, we saw the couple mentioned walking briskly out of the building and we asked them if they had changed their minds, they both seemed to wanted to leave quickly and not talk but the girl smiled and said yes. We praise God!
Baby Save Report Duluth Oct 11-11 Sarah Winandy, SWC
I saw a young woman with her boyfriend cross the street heading for the building so I walked up and greeted them. The woman was friendly and they both slowed their pace to hear what I had to say, until they stopped to listen. I was able to explain to her how the baby forms in the mother's womb, even at 8 weeks in the womb the baby is well formed with feet, toes, hands, fingers, finger prints, head, heart beat and nerves, basically has everything you and I have and only needs to grow. I asked her if she was pregnant and she said, "Yea, well--- sort- of " ( I never knew anyone that could be sort-of pregnant, but she at that moment wasn't willing to face the pregnancy and was planning to soon not be pregnant.) I showed her pictures of a developing baby, at which she was very interested and stopped me with the picture of a baby’s feet at 10 weeks pointing it out to her boyfriend. I then showed her pictures of aborted babies explaining how an abortion will allow the abortionist to tear the little arms and legs and feet apart from the babies body. I went on to explain to her that God's laws are written in our hearts and He said clearly, "You shall not murder." and the baby is a person right now, even from the moment of conception and to kill the child would to be breaking God's law. I explained, no one can kill another person and not feel the weight of that sin grow from year to year because the judgment of God is upon them now for murder. I asked, "You’re not going to do that to your baby, are you?" She shook her head and said, "No" I asked again, "You changed your mind about having an abortion?" she said, "Yes!" Praise God! Jim, asked "J" "What changed your mind?" which she replied, "What she said to me enlightened me." She was given a diaper gift bag with helpful information and we encouraged them to keep in contact with us. We learned that "J" moved here two weeks ago from Chicago and is living with her Mother in an apartment. Over this weekend "J" called saying her mother kicked her out of the apartment because of her decision not to abort the baby so is living in a temporary shelter right now. Please pray for "J' as we hope to support her through this pregnancy and after the baby is born. She will be going through much pressure which might try to sway her the wrong way. Pray that we will be able to give the gospel and for her salvation.
Baby Save Report 8/2/11 Duluth Sidewalk Counselor, Jim Tuttle Today we engaged a couple that came close to changing their mind about their planned abortion at our first contact on the sidewalk. They spent several minutes talking with me and seemed to be very interested in what I was saying. They were very hesitant especially after I showed them a picture of an aborted baby. They told me their names ('B' and 'A' as I recall)—that they were married and had children at home. When I asked them to come with me for cup of coffee Angie at first said yes but then changed her mind and they went into the abortion center. I explained, as they walked into the center, that my phone number was on the front of the literature and if they had any questions they could call. About two hours later I received a call from Brian informing me that they had changed their mind about the abortion. Praise God! It was very interesting that today a new lady came to the street to pray because she felt compelled by the Spirit of God. She held a sign that said, “you will always remember the baby you never knew.”
Baby Save Report 5/13/11 Duluth Jim Tuttle, SWC Contacted through website A BABY SAVE BECAUSE OF THE WEBSITE! A mother called me this week talking, thinking about an abortion. She, 'L', called because of the website and wanted to know if we could help her. I and another volunteer meet with her over lunch and I believe she is not going to have and abortion. (Although, she was at the abortion center a few years back and left without having an abortion then as well.) She believes she is about 7 wks preg. and has done two EPTs showing a positive result. She has two other children, is 21 years-old and is single. 'L' did take literature from me and promises to say in touch. She is from Duluth and is living with her mother and step father. Her other two children are in foster care.
Baby Save Report 3/14/11 Jim Tuttle, SWC Duluth A group of three came to the abortion center, one younger woman with a boyfriend and an older woman (perhaps the mother of one of the younger couple). The older woman told me she was against them having the abortion but was coming to “support them”. They stopped on their way in to smoke and we continued to speak to them---both Sarah I pleaded with them. About an hour later they came out smiling, the younger woman told me they had changed their mind. She refused the gift we offered but did take our literature as they left.
Baby Save Report 1/20/11 Duluth Jim Tuttle, SWC I received a call from Lake Superior Life Care Center while sidewalk counseling in regard to a man who wanted to talk to me about his girlfriend who wanted to abort their baby. She had already been in contact with the Women Health Center. He called me and we set up a meeting. He was able to get his girlfriend, ('S') to come with him to see me. I counseled with them for about a half hour. She seemed be leaning against the abortion by the time they arrived but did say that because we were willing to help them with some financial help helped her decide to give birth. They may consider adoption.
They both looked at aborted pictures and were affected by them. I also gave them some of our literature. 'S' said that her mother was putting a lot of pressure on her to have the abortion. They want to continue seeing me for relationship counseling.
Baby Save Report 11/12/10 Duluth Sarah Winandy, SWC After this client spent about forty minutes at the abortion center she came out and began to talk with Sarah. We learned she had changed her mind and offered more literature and gifts. She was very open to the help we offered her and she gave us her name and phone number and encouraged us to call her. Her name is 'A' and she is a single mother of four children.
Baby Twins 8/24/10 SCW Sarah Winandy Duluth
One of the girls that went into the Building for Women today came out tearful and wanted to talk with us. She told us she was pregnant with twins and had already had twins two years ago. Overwhelmed at the prospect of having twins again and though she knew it was wrong decided to have an abortion. As she went into the building she noticed the Truth Van with the words, "Please take my hand, not my life". The words made her think about her 2 year olds at home, she had not taken their lives, why should she do it now? While considering this she was told by the nurse she was 14 weeks and 3 days along in her pregnancy, the abortionist on call that day only did it up to 12 weeks. With that news, she dropped the clip board on the floor that she was holding and walked out to talk to us. (She had been told by a staff person not to talk with us when her appointment was made.) We greeted her with encouragement and offered support and help, which she was grateful for. We took her to out for coffee and had an opportunity to give her the gospel and learn more about her. One of the wonderful things we learned is that she has a praying Grandmother and mother, both were very grieved over her decision for an abortion. Because of their prayers and God placing us there, this 19 year old mother was rescued from the blood guilt of killing her innocent babies. God moved and worked today in her life to keep her from doing something she would forever regret. We learned her tears were from the relief of knowing she wasn't going to kill her unborn babies. We praise God for His powerful deliverance and mercy!
Baby Save Report 8/5/10 Duluth Sarah Winandy, SWC Yesterday, eleven young mothers went into the Building For Women Duluth MN. to have an abortion. We spoke to a young mother whose name is 'C' who had come outside to smoke in the courtyard. We asked her if she thought it was alright to discriminate against a people group and that the unborn are a people that are being brutally treated. We said it is an evil thing to discriminate against your own child, your own flesh and blood, it is horrible, unbelievable. We asked her to fear God and love her child. 'C' bent over and cried while her friend tried to comfort her with a hug, then both went back into the building.
About 10 minutes later we saw both women come out of the building. 'C' stopped at the opening of the gate and raised her hand waving a paper and yelled out, "I'm not doing it, I'm not going through with it." We ran over and gave her a hug. 'C' told us her name, and then showed the paper to us, "I'm having twins!" It was a copy of an ultra sound picture with two five-week old babies perfect in every way.
We rejoice in the Lord Jesus! He changed her mind, and now these two little ones will live. Jim Tuttle related that while he was keeping a post in the alley for anyone going in, he saw and heard me speaking out to 'C'. He noticed a light flashing out and wondered about it. We realized it was the sun reflecting on the shiny gold edges of Lori's Bible. It was very interesting to us that this happened just at the point when 'C' changed her mind.
Baby Save Report Date: 11/24/09 Sidewalk Counselor: Leah Winandy Duluth
A client came down the street and brandished a knife saying to Leah, "don't talk to me". Leah responded but did not move, "we are hear to help". Other words along that line were spoken by Leah. The client ('M') came back and put the knife to Leah's throat. Then 'M' went into the building for women. I called 911. The police came and arrested 'M'. Later on, after a few days we learn from family members that 'M' had decided to keep her baby. The following is an email from a one of 'M's relatives:
Sarah, Thank you so much for your blog. I am a relative of 'M' and live in Minneapolis. I, too, am a pro-lifer. In response to my convictions I have in the past housed pregnant women who had no place to live. I have never been outside an abortion clinic as I had believed that it was pushing it too far in a negative manner. This incident has changed my mind. Although things did not go as smoothly as normal for you, you were at the place God wanted you to be. My brother visited her the other day and said “I believe the protester was an angel sent by God to save the life of the baby”. That is just what happened. Since the incident, she has decided against abortion. I wanted to thank you for the work you are doing. Keep praying for 'M' that she would return to Jesus. Lori -- Reported by Jim Tuttle Pro-Life Ministries of Duluth
Baby Save Report By Leah Winandy 6/30/09 Duluth There was a young woman who stopped briefly to listen, as my Mom (Sarah) counseled her to keep her baby, offering help and showing her pictures of developing babies and of babies killed by abortion. She took the literature and walked on, but missed the gate, walking to where I stood. I approached her smiling and asked, "Oh, did you see those pictures?" she said "yes." "What do you think of them, have you seen them before?" she said "yes." "Then you know that your baby is a precious person." she said "yes." "You aren't going to kill your baby, are you?" Slowly she shook her head yes. "Why, why? How can we help you? We can give you lodging, anything you need, we have done it for others. Can we help you?" she said, "No, nothing." By this time she had found the gate and began walking through the court yard. So I called out to her, "You need to know that you will have to answer to God for what you do to your baby. We have told you and you do not have an excuse now. Fear God." She threw the literature in the garbage and went in the door. Oh, how we prayed and cried out to God for her. At such a young age to be already so hardened! It seemed impossible that she would change her mind now, but we have a God who delights to do the impossible! Another young woman stopped to talk to my Mom, it turned out she was the sister of the first girl and had tried to talk her out of the abortion, but without success. My Mom gave her literature and prayed with her, she agreed to try again to talk her sister out of killing her child. Ten or fifteen minutes later they both came out smiling, she had changed her mind! Praise God! We were so excited! We gave her a gift from the ministry which includes a one hundred dollar gift certificate and talked briefly with her. Please pray for this young woman, the battle is not yet over. Pray that she will continue to have the courage to keep her baby, especially since she seemed shaky on her decision. Pray for her, and her sister's salvation, that God will open their eyes to see Jesus.
Baby Save Report 6/2/09 Duluth Sarah Winandy, SWC Several women had gone into the Building For Women in Duluth MN. by 8:15 a.m., but about 15 minutes later a young man with a friendly face and carrying a cup of coffee in each hand and a small bag of donuts passed us to go in, and took information that we offered. As he was entering the building we called out to him to, "Fear God!", with that he raised his hand, (coffee and all), in acknowledgement. About 20 minutes later a young women came out with the young man walking behind her, we asked her if she had changed her mind and with emotion said, "yes"! We asked why she had changed her mind but due to emotion couldn't talk with us. The young man told us they were from Duluth, he seemed to want to talk but his girlfriend wanted to go and didn't want the gift we offered. With that we asked them to call the number on the front of the paper and let us know how we could help. As they were leaving in their car the girl had her head down with her hair covering her face, but the young man waved back at us with a smile. Praise God!
Baby Save Report Duluth One of two for 5/5/09 Sarah Winandy, SWC
After a long dry spell God poured out a blessing today with two moms that changed their mind. One single mom came out of the abortion center and visited with Sarah. Sarah was able to pray with this mom by name ('J'). She was moved by Sarah’s prayer and left the abortion center smiling. Although she never told us she changed her mind we feel strongly that she had decided this by leaving. We learned that she already has had one abortion and had one child at home, age 6 or 7.
Baby Save Report Duluth Two of two for 5/5/09 Sarah Winandy, SWC The second save involved a mother daughter couple. They came out of the abortion center, the daughter, holding a picture of her 14-week baby’s ultra-sound. She told us that she is going to have the baby—shared with us her name and gave us her phone number. ('M' and 'K'—the one pregnant) They accepted the baby gifts that we keep on hand for such occasions. When we asked 'K' what changed her mind she said it was the ultra-sound.
Baby Save Report Duluth 11/11/08 Jim Tuttle, SWC Early in the morning just after the first group of women came a women came out the back to smoke. I engaged her in conversation and learned that she had brought a friend for an abortion. I pleaded with her to go back and bring out her friend or to take literature in to her. But she refused. When I asked her if she feared God and believed Jesus died for her she said yes. I then told her then Jesus would have her go back in to make one more appeal for the baby. She went into the building without saying anything more. An hour later she came out with the pregnant girl who told us that she had definitely changed her mind. We gave her a gift package and learned that her name was 'A'. I smiled at 'A’s friend with whom I had talked earlier and told her “never give up” she smiled back.
Baby Save Report Duluth 11/4/08 Matt Connelly, SWC (in his own words) After our group of ten or so Catholics prayed the Rosary, I was crouched making a political sign urging people to vote for life in order to help the babies in jeopardy in Duluth’s Building for Women. So far, I’d written the number 8 on the board, representing 8 mothers/couples in the mill. Just then, I heard the door shut. Looking up, a couple approached, holding hands. I asked them: “Did you change your mind?” “Yep,” the college-aged mother replied simply, yet confidently. The boyfriend didn’t say anything, but continued leading his girlfriend down the sidewalk. “Awesome……..God Bless you!,” I said. The mom looked back at me once as they checked for traffic and made their way across the street. I could tell she was happy, or at least with a peace, but not yet smiling, as I surely was. I crouched down to my sign, and had to turn the posterboard over to redraft: “7 children may be killed here today. Vote for life!”
Baby Save Report 10/28/08 Sarah Winandy, SWC Duluth At the end of the sidewalk counseling day a couple came out of the Building For Women. When asked if they had changed their mind they both said they had. They visited with us on the street for about 20 minutes giving us their name and phone number. They said they were from Iron Mountain, MI. and knew the Life Care Center counselor from that town. When asked what made them change their mind he said it was the “fear of God thing”. When asked if we made a difference they both agree we had. We gave them a gift. Baby Save Report 10/28/08 Sarah Winandy, SWC Duluth Following our conversation with a couple that had changed their mind about having an abortion, Sarah noted a woman smoking outside the abortion center door. After a short time she came up to the gate close to Sarah to continue their conversation. She, 'D', revealed they she could not go through with the abortion. 'D', also said we had a part in that decision, even though she came to the abortion very tenuous about having the abortion. Her boyfriend wanted the abortion but she did not. 'D', had locked her keys in the car so it took a while to get them out. I had procured a coat hanger and worked to get the car door open while Sarah continued to talk with 'D'. We were able to get 'D' phone number and took her out to lunch.
Baby Save Report: 3/7/08 Duluth Jennifer Johnson, SWC First save: The client coming for an abortion made an illegal turn with her car and was involved in a finder-bender. She did take literature from us and never came into the abortion center. Second save: The second, came crying ('C' age 19) and was willing to go out to eat with sidewalk counselor, Jennifer, who spent a couple of hours with her and talked her out of the abortion. This client said that if we were not there she would have gone in and had the abortion. We learned that is at high risk because of high blood pressure. She was under pressure from her doctor. But her mother is very pro-life. She does have one other child. Unfortunately, Jennifer did not get a contact number from her.
